Bruno Alves receives a red card for horror challenge on Harry Kane

Bruno Alves has been sent off for Portugal in their game against England at Wembley Stadium.

Seemingly forgetting that the contest is a friendly, the Portugal defender made a horrific lunge at Harry Kane’s head in the 36th minute.

Quite miraculously, Kane attempted to play on before the referee brought play back.

Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s a ridiculous challenge, he could have done some serious damage to Harry Kane.”

The game is level at half-time, although Roy Hodgson’s side will be confident of capitalising on their advantage in the second half.

It’s England’s last contest before Euro 2016 as Hodgson attempts to finalise his best team for next Saturday’s opening game against Russia.
