The WWE brand extension will properly begin and issue in the New Era once SmackDown moves from Thursday nights to Tuesday nights to be broadcasted out live. By then, both Raw and SmackDown should have their own unique rosters, like they were promised by the company.
A lot of change is expected to come in the WWE over the next couple of months, with superstars changing allegiances depending on where they are drafted to, new stars being born as they are brought up from NXT, and possibly some old faces returning to the business.
One thing that has only been rumored about so far is the state of the championships and where they are going to go. We haven’t had any clarification on how the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship will be used but many expect them to be split across the brands.

As for the Tag Team and the Women’s titles, it is thought they will be competed for on both brands, but there wouldn’t be any harm in introducing another title for each brand. One title that is speculated to have a new one introduced for the other brand is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
With another one introduced for SmackDown, a match will have to take place to determine who the new champion will be. Cageside Seats have speculated who the two participants might be, and they think it could be arguably two of the biggest stars in the company today, John Cena and AJ Styles.

They said in a report: “It's also apparently still in the plans for there to be two world titles, so it's possible a Cena vs. Styles match will introduce the SmackDown championship.”
Cena vs Styles would be a great first championship match for the new title if it is introduced. After all, they look set to meet one another at Money in the Bank later this month after what happened when the leader of the Cenation returned to Monday Night Raw earlier this week.
When Cena returned to Raw this week after being out for five months with a shoulder injury, he made the promise to fans by saying although it may now be a new era, the future still has to go through him. Styles came down to the ring to welcome Cena back, but then the rest of The Club appeared.
That was when The Phenomenal One turned heel on Cena and attacked him in the ring, with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson joining in on the beatdown of the 15-time World Champion as well. Cena vs Styles is a match fans have been wanting to see for such a long time, and it looks like they’re about to get it.
Better yet, if the rumors are to be believed, they both look set to lead the SmackDown show come the brand split and fight it out for the title on that show. Hopefully, it will also mean both of them will win the World title at some point, one so that Styles can finally claim the top prize in the WWE, and two so that Cena can finally match Ric Flair’s record and become a 16-time World Champion.
SmackDown is looking great already and it could get off to a fantastic start with a championship clash between Cena and Styles on the very first night of it being broadcasted live.
