With Lionel Messi’s ambassadorial contract with the video game FIFA expiring, there was always going to be new stars on the front cover.
On Monday, FIFA released a teasing trailer of the next year’s game and it revealed the four players that would feature on the four different covers - and it’s fair to say it hasn’t gone down too well.
Of course, following Messi is never going to be easy but Twitter doesn’t exactly agree with FIFA’s choices.

First up it’s Marco Reus. The German winger may not be heading to Euro 2016 but he had a fantastic campaign with Borussia Dortmund last season.
BVB may not have lifted any trophies but Reus’ 23 goals in 43 appearances did enough to earn himself a spot on the FIFA cover. Fair enough.

Next, it’s Anthony Martial. The 20-year-old joined Manchester United for a fee that could potentially rise to £58 million and the Frenchman is starting to show his class. United fans on Twitter were delighted to see Martial rewarded for his fine displays.
The next two choices are slightly more bewildering. James Rodriguez struggled to play first-team football at Real Madrid last season and only managed to score eight times in all competitions.
However, the Colombia will be on next season’s front cover despite many people on Twitter expressing their disappointment.
The fourth and final player is Eden Hazard. Of course, we all know Hazard is a world-class talent but he had a very disappointing campaign for the Blues as they finished tenth in the Premier League.
The Belgian had to wait until April 23 for his first Premier League goal and was below-par for the majority of matches.
Clearly, there were many that weren’t too impressed to see Hazard earn a spot on the front cover.
The new game is expected to hit the shelves in October and, no matter who is on the front cover, it’s sure to be the leading sports video game once again.
