Sports journalist, Ariel Helwani was recently banned from the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion following an altercation with the Mixed Martial Arts organisation.

Helwani broke the news that Brock Lesnar had signed a contract with UFC to fight at UFC 200 before the UFC had the opportunity to break the news for themselves.

This supposedly enraged the UFC hierarchy, including president Dana White, who had one of the UFC Public Relation managers call Ariel Helwani to the back in order to speak with him about what had happened. According to Helwani, the following was said:

"You’re out. Get out of here. You’re done. We don’t want you here anymore. Go to Bellator. You're too negative."

Due to this, White saw it fit to issue a lifetime ban to Ariel Helwani. It now seems that cooler heads have prevailed and Dana White has recalled the ban as Ariel Helwani has been allowed back following a recent meeting between all parties involved.

The decision to ban Helwani seemed very over the top and extremely uncalled for. It's a decision that was clearly made in the heat of the moment which has clearly been proven as cooler heads prevailed. Helwani broke no rules of the UFC events, as far as it appears.

He simply did his job. He is paid to cover the news and happenings in UFC and this is exactly what he did.

Helwani's attendance at the event and his skill as a journalist personality were able to secure him the information about Brock Lesnar before the UFC managed to get it out, it wasn't taken through illegal or even immoral ways.

It now appears that Dana White actually agreed that the decision was out of order leading to the reversal of the former decision. This ordeal has portrayed Dana White in a negative light. While Helwani has been reinstated, it still seems as if there will be tension between the two parties.
