Alvaro Morata floors linesman with hilarious slide tackle attempt

One of the linesman in Spain’s Euro 2016 opener with Czech Republic found himself floored in hilarious circumstances after a rather wayward tackle from Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Spaniard in recent days according to AS, amid reports suggesting Morata will return to Real Madrid before heading to the Premier League as part of a big money deal.

And while much has been made of Morata’s impressive dribbling, passing and finishing abilities, it would appear that tackling is not one of his strong points.

Keen to make an impact from the off against the Czechs, Morata did exactly that, though not necessarily in the way he would have wished.

Picking up a pass from Juanfran on the right-hand flank, the Juventus hotshot made a real mess of things, failing to control the ball before sliding along the ground and taking out the unwitting match official in the process.

Appearing like the kind of two-footed lunge that usually results in a red card for the perpetrator, the incident did not go unnoticed by fans of social media, who quickly seized on the incident with predictably amusing results.

The entire incident, and the way in which English football fans were quick to jump on the slip-up, should give Morata just a small taste of the kind of online escapades he can expect should he sign for a Premier League side.

So while a few goals at Euro 2016 would be the ideal way to prepare for such a move, Morata may also want to consider working on his tackling a little.
