Petr Cech reveals unique training technique ahead of Croatia clash

Petr Cech has offered fans on social media some insight into his training preparations ahead of the Czech Republic’s Euro 2016 showdown with Croatia.

The Czech’s put in a dogged defensive display against reigning champions Spain but nevertheless succumbed to a Gerard Pique header three minutes from time in a 1-0 loss.

With Croatia seeing off Turkey with an important 1-0 win of their own, Cech and his teammates will know that defeat could leave them facing an uphill struggle to qualify for the knockout phase of the competition.

Luka Modric scored the winner with a sublime strike from distance and it would appear that the Czech number one has been busy honing his shot-stopping skills in the time since.

And if the video the Arsenal man has uploaded to Twitter is anything to go by, Cech is prepared for any eventuality – including deflected shots.

Having lined up a series of plastic bottles in front of the goalmouth, the clip sees the 34-year-old face a series of 'deflected' shots.

With each one hit through the line of bottles, the added deflection each one gives helps keep Cech on his toes.

Whether that is enough to prevent the Czechs from being put to the sword by a talented Croatia team is doubtful though, with many pundits tipping the Balkans side to go far in France.

Worse still, Cech will have bad memories of his last encounter with Croatia – a 4-2 defeat in a friendly played back in early 2011.

The Arsenal man will be hoping to avoid a repeat at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Friday.
