England fans could be forgiven if their respect for Russian football supporters has disintegrated over the past week.
The travelling Three Lions’ faithful were reportedly targeted by the so-called Russian ‘ultras’ in both Marseille and Lille, leading to chaotic scenes of violence in the French cities.
Not only that but six England fans have ended up in prison for retaliating and one supporter, 51-year-old Andrew Bache, suffered a cardiac arrest as well as extensive brain injuries after being set upon by Russians armed with iron bars.

Intelligence sources told the Independent earlier this week that the organised group of Russian thugs want to displace England as football’s ‘top dog hooligans’ but fortunately many of them have now been deported from France.
This is probably just as well after a video emerged of a group of alleged England fans - per the Mirror - seemingly spitting, stamping and urinating on a Russian flag.
Video: England fans 'urinate and spit' on Russia flag
Disappointing - but not surprising?
The footage, filmed in Paris, was reportedly shot in a fan zone in the city.
It shows one man wearing an England flag across his shoulders ‘entertaining’ a large group around him by stamping the Russian flag into the mud.
All sorts of unsavoury things then happen to the aforementioned flag, including one man urinating on it.
One suspects Euro 2016 will be remembered as much for the scenes off the pitch as the football on it.
