Olivier Giroud and Granit Xhaka may well have been on opposing sides as France played Switzerland at Euro 2016 on Sunday night, but they will be joining forces for Arsenal in the Premier League next season.
Arsene Wenger, of course, secured the services of Xhaka before the start of the European Championships and he would have been buoyed by his new signing's performance in Lille.
Indeed, despite coming up against the likes of Paul Pogba and co., Xhaka produced an admirable display and will be desperate to star during the knockout stages of the tournament.

Giroud, meanwhile, failed to claim a place in the side against Switzerland but should also have a key role to play over the coming weeks.

As the game reached its climax, the soon to be club teammates duly embraced each other. Xhaka tapped Giroud on the arm and gave him quite the hug. Well, in truth, it was a fairly normal hug, but Arsenal fans absolutely loved it nonetheless. Seriously.

To the surprise of Arsenal fans, though, Xhaka has actually been criticised by Hibernian manager Neil Lennon. The former Bolton boss opted to compare Xhaka with Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, as per the Mirror, Lennon stated: "I've not been that impressed. He [Xhaka] is alright. He reminds me of Charlie Adam."
We will leave that one with you.
While Lennon doesn't hold much hope for Arsenal's new signing, Gunners chief Wenger clearly expects him to have an influential role to play at the club over the coming years.
After securing the Swiss international's signature, the Arsenal chief stated: "Granit Xhaka is an exciting young player, already with good Champions League and Bundesliga experience.
"We have been watching him for a long time now and he is a player who will add quality to our squad. We wish Granit a good Euro 2016 with Switzerland and look forward to welcoming him to Arsenal ahead of next season."
