The news that has left the WWE Universe in a frenzy is that the company is reaching out to former stars, bringing them back to include them in the upcoming draft as we head towards another brand split on July 19.
Several names have already been doing the rounds on the dirt sheets, with rumours suggesting the likes of Carlito, Rey Mysterio and MVP have all been contacted regarding making returns to the company.
It remains to be seen just how many former talents the WWE will want to return, but here are the four I believe the WWE need to put at the top of their list and ensure they make returns to the company.

Right now, you can’t rule out anybody when it comes to making a return to the company. If Goldberg is rumoured to be coming back, then guys like Jeff Hardy should also be considered because, despite his personal issues, he is one of the most unique superstars in WWE history, and deserves another run at the top.
He can still add a lot of value to the company, regardless of where he ends up after the brand split. He’s had numerous successful runs at the top, and he can use his experience to help others adjust to that role as well, along with the fact that his in-ring style is something to behold, and there are opponents just waiting for him to return so they can put on some excellent matches.
Hardy is a unique character, which means his fan base will always be there and he isn’t someone who can get lost in the shuffle. He stands out, and even the mid-card matches feel important when he’s involved in them and with plenty of feuds available he could make a successful return so it won’t be a waste.
Matches against the likes of AJ Styles and Sami Zayn would be fantastic to watch, especially on SmackDown where matches like this could rival Monday Night Raw. Then you have the physical feuds with guys like Kevin Owens, who can also excel in a feud with the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The list is endless, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins and much more; the WWE need to do whatever it takes to bring Hardy back into the fold as soon as possible.
Johnny Mundo is a similar pick to Hardy, mainly because they are both unique talents and excellent in-ring workers. The best thing that happened to Morrison was his release, as it’s allowed to him to work for other companies and he’s found a character which works for him, and it has made him a highly sought after star.
The only issue with bringing Morrison back to the company is that he’s tied to a contract with Lucha Underground, although I don’t know the ins and outs of the contractual details. If he is somehow available this year then the WWE need to pull out all the stops to make this signing happen, he’s too talented to overlook especially when they’re looking for former stars.
The important thing to remember is that he’s improved a lot since he was last in the company, he’s finally found his character, he can now talk on the microphone while he still looks and moves a lot better than most guys currently employed by the organisation.
Again, feuds are the important thing. Even though we need stars to make numbers, they shouldn’t be there just for that reason and allow others to pick up countless wins over them. I still believe guys like Morrison can be valuable assets on the roster and use their experiences to further their careers.
Obviously, it’s important to let the future have an opportunity as well, and Morrison can be the perfect fit on either roster when the time comes.
This is the one name the WWE Universe is buzzing about, and if rumours are to be believed, then we could see the Olympic Gold Medallist return to the WWE after a lengthy absence. At one stage it looked as if Angle would never make his return but the WWE’s decision to look for stars of 40-years-old to return to the company has allowed us to become excited about another run for him.
Fans will already be writing up their fantasy match-ups for Angle, not only that, but you can be sure that the wrestling enthusiasts employed by the WWE will also be looking to get themselves in a match with the legend and help put on fantastic matches.
The biggest rumour surrounding his return relates to NXT, more specifically Jason Jordan and Chad Gable of American Alpha. The plan could be for them to reform Team Angle with Gable and Jordan playing a similar role to Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas of the World’s Greatest Tag Team.
It’s something to be excited by; the opportunities are endless, and you can already imagine the reaction when his theme music hits, and the fans are out in full force chanting ‘you suck’ with massive smiles on their faces.
Most of the names that have been thrown around seem to be male stars, but there are female stars out there who can still do a job in our current women’s division and set it alight once more, with the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus at the top of the list.
There has been a lot of build towards the women’s division rivalling the men, with a new championship being created and the likes of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks spearheading the division, you still can’t help but feel that there’s something missing there, and more can be done.
Trish has been vocal about wanting one more run in the company in any capacity, and if she can still compete in the ring then again, there are fantastic storylines available for her to have one final run in the WWE.
Not only that, but she could also pull off being a brilliant manager for any of the female athletes and fans will be happy to see the Hall of Famer back and could slot into any current feud.
There are plenty more names out there who can return to the company, but these are the ones I believe should be called upon first.
