The WWE Universe was in a state of shock when it was revealed that Cody Rhodes would be leaving the company.
His father, Dusty Rhodes, is a WWE Hall of Famer and absolute legend of the company who was working in NXT until the time of his sad death last year, while his brother Dustin is still in the WWE as Goldust - wrestling even now at the age of 47.
Cody Rhodes was expected to be a WWE lifer, but then he left earlier this year owing to unhappiness with creative and his place in the company. The WWE were happy for him to leave but it seems now they are in talks with Rhodes again.

According to PWInsider.com, WWE and Cody Rhodes have had talks within the past few days about a new deal.
However, the talks aren't for him to make a return to the WWE right away. Instead, they are apparently for some sort of legends deal.

"The discussions have reportedly been about Rhodes signing a deal similar to that of a WWE Legends contract," the report stated. "If this were to happen, WWE could continue to sell Cody Rhodes merchandise and use his likeness for other projects."
At the moment, there has been no talk about Rhodes making a return to the WWE as a wrestler on the active roster.
"The deal would not include Rhodes returning to the company in any capacity, and it’s possible WWE was planning to release Stardust merchandise prior to Rhodes leaving the company, so they would need Rhodes to sign a new deal so they could legally proceed with the merchandise plans," the report went on to add.
Rhodes has several indy dates already lined up for this summer, including matches against 'The Miracle' Mike Bennett, Kurt Angle and Jushin Thunder Liger coming up.
According to Wrestling Inc, the move could just be the WWE protecting themselves as they look to release more Stardust merchandise that was already in the works.
"It's possible that WWE had merchandise planned for Stardust, perhaps through a third-party like Mattel, and are offering Cody a deal so they can legally move forward with the plans."
Before he left, Rhodes seemed incredibly fed up with his place in the WWE. When he left he sent out a huge long tweet that said he tried to become Cody Rhodes again but was blocked at every turn by the creative team and head writers.
With his departure being on bad terms, it would be a huge shock if Rhodes came back anytime soon.
