Virtually ever since the WWE announced there would be a Brand Split coming into force in July, there has been rumours and speculation about the company bringing back stars of the past to boost the respective RAW and SmackDown rosters.
One of the biggest names linked to a return has been Kurt Angle, and hope of the multi-time champion making a comeback seemed to have increased last week when Angle himself revealed a recent meeting with Triple H.
Speaking over the weekend, however, Angle attempted to play down the speculation. The veteran wrestler posted a lengthy message to his official Facebook page to set the record straight:

"In response to some of your questions today regarding the WWE, and all of the media fanfare about it the last few days, I want to, once again, say that our confidential conversation never discussed the brand split," wrote the 47-year-old.
"A few wrestling sites seem to have put a spin on this by twisting some words around to fit their agenda, something that I have no control over.

"What I CAN control is my own life, and my life isn't only wrestling. I do not expect to be in wrestling much longer. I AM excited about my future. Thank you."
Angle's update will be a blow for WWE fans hoping to see the legend make a surprise appearance at the upcoming WWE Draft on July 19.
Unless he and the WWE are going the extra yard to cover up any potential return, it really does look like last week's reports may have just got the wrong end of the stick.
With almost a decade of experience in the WWE, and almost too many titles to count, there is no doubt that Angle's return to the company would be a memorable moment if, and when, it does happen.
Unfortunately, it looks like the WWE Universe won't get to see the Olympic champion back in the squared circle he left behind in 2006 any time soon.
The one silver lining to come from Angle's Facebook post is that he is still in contact with the likes of Triple H.
Only last month there were reports that WWE CEO Vince McMahon was against re-hiring Angle for various issues away from the ring. By the sounds of it, though, the former TNA star does have HHH in his corner.
Hopefully, at some point in the future, that means his return to the WWE.
