Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
This has been reported by The Sun, who claim that the Portuguese tactician is hoping to secure the services of the France international in this transfer window.
In fact, the report claims that the Red Devils have been given the green light to make their move after Real Madrid decided that they are ready to offload him.

Varane, 23, is recognised as one of the leading young defenders in Europe but has failed to establish himself as a leading man at the heart of Real's defence in recent years.
Manager Zinedine Zidane has more often than not opted for the duo of Sergio Ramos and Pepe, leaving Varane to watch on from the bench.
Varane for £30m
Now, then, he could be set for a mega-money switch to the Premier League. Indeed, the report indicates that Real are prepared to sell him for a fee in the region of £30 million.
United have already splashed the cash on improving their defensive line - Eric Bailly has signed for the club from La Liga side Villarreal for £30m - but it appears that Mourinho's recruitment process has only just begun.
Varane, of course, previously enjoyed a prominent role under Mourinho at the Bernabeu and there's now every chance that the pair will be reunited ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
The defender is currently on the sidelines, of course, after picking up a knee injury that ruled him out of the France squad for Euro 2016.
While the Varane saga may well continue over the coming months, it's fair to say that the Old Trafford outfit will be hoping to secure a couple of other additions in the immediate future.
The BBC have today reported that Sweden superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic could sign for the club before the end of the week.
The 34-year-old may well be approaching the final stages of his career, but he's still comfortably recognised as one of the leading strikers in world football.
And then there's Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has also been heavily linked with a move to the club.
Sky Sports recently claimed that the Old Trafford hierarchy had agreed a £26.3m deal with Dortmund for the player's services, so it will be interesting to see whether the club can get the deal over the line.
