It must feel like Christmas to all Manchester United fans.

The Premier League giants are expected to announce the arrivals of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic imminently as Jose Mourinho quickly sets about erasing the disappointments of the past three years.

And the aforementioned duo might be joined by one of football’s rising stars if Mourinho gets his way.

United have long been linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and French sports newspaper L’Equipe - brought to our attention by Sport Witness - carried a spread today that included the headline: “Mourinho wants Pogba”.

And, despite the Manchester Evenings News’ report that Pogba would rather move to Real Madrid, United are reportedly preparing to bid for the 23-year-old next week.

€120 million

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has reportedly opened discusses with Juventus as he builds a squad that can compete for the title.

The dynamic Frenchman could become the world’s most expensive player should he leave Turin this summer, with the Old Lady asking his suitors to pay anything between €100 million and €120 million.

Mourinho's 4-3-3 plan

Pogba has been underwhelming for France at the European Championship so far but that hasn’t put Mourinho off. According to L’Equipe, he is planning to utilise Pogba in midfield next to Wayne Rooney in a 4-3-3 formation.

The pair would play behind Ibrahimovic (central striker) and wingers Mkhitaryan (right) and Anthony Martial (left).

That’s quite the dangerous line-up. United might just go from being one of the most boring teams last season to far and away the most exciting.

As for who would fill the remaining midfield position, our guess is a defensive midfielder. Whether Mourinho deems Morgan Schneiderlin or Bastian Schweinsteiger as capable of filling the role remains to be seen.

Pogba has a decision to make

Whether Mourinho is able to sculpt his dream attack depends on Pogba.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, has advised the player to join Mourinho’s revolution for three years and then sign for Madrid in 2019, when he will be 26-years-old and entering the prime years of his career.

But Pogba doesn’t want to wait three years before moving to the Bernabeu.

Yet reports in Spain claim United have the advantage over Los Blancos because Real president Florentino Perez has never been Pogba’s biggest admirer.

And Raiola, who has been a regular at United’s Carrington base this summer, overseeing the deals for Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan, has become something of a go-to-guy for the Red Devils.
