The Swedish striker posted on Instagram: “Time to let the world know. My next destination in @manchesterunited #iamcoming,” accompanied with a picture of the Manchester United crest.
There is still no official word from the Red Devils but we take it Zlatan is telling the truth.
Despite it being fairly obviously for weeks that Ibrahimovic would join Jose Mourinho in Manchester, there is nothing like official confirmation.
So, when Ibrahimovic broke the news, United fans were absolutely delighted. They took to Twitter to express their sheer excitement at the 34-year-old signing for their club. Here are some of the best tweets:
Despite coming to the end of his career, Ibrahimovic shows no signs of slowing down. The forward had his most prolific campaign in his illustrious career with Paris Saint-German last term having scored 52 goals in all competitions.
Having already conquered Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France it will be intriguing to see if Ibrahimovic can show his quality in England next term.
It’s believed that the enigmatic striker has signed a one-year contract at the Theatre of Dreams and will reunite with Mourinho. The pair spent one campaign together at Inter Milan in 2008/09 as they won Serie A.
No matter which team you support, seeing one of the world’s greatest strikers in the Premier League will be a joy and he is sure to bring plenty of entertainment over the next 12 months.
