It will bring an end to 24 hours of confusion after Ibrahimovic announced his arrival at Manchester United on Instagram, writing to his millions of followers: "Time to let the world know. #iamcoming."
He arrives on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after allowing his contract at Parc des Princes to run down. It is believed his one-year deal will contain an option for another 12 months.
Ibrahimovic will become the second signing of Jose Mourinho's era after earlier agreeing a £30m deal for Villarreal defender Eric Bailly. He is expected to be followed by Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is closing in on a move to Old Trafford after the two clubs agreed on a £26m fee.
Fit as a fiddle
Despite Ibrahimovic closing in on the ripe old age of 35, he remains one of the fittest men in professional football. The Swede famously takes care of his body by practicing martial arts and has barely an injury to his name.
He played 47 games for PSG last season, scoring 50 goals and creating a further 16. Needless to say, no problems are expected.
The 34-year-old, who has also had spells with Ajax, Barcelona and AC Milan, retired from international football after Sweden’s exit from Euro 2016 with a record of 62 goals in 116 games.
Patrick Vieira, himself a Premier League legend, spent time with Ibrahimovic at both Juventus and Inter Milan and is appears the pair have kept a close relationship.
The New York City FC manager revealed he had spoken to the Swede about his imminent move and has backed him to be a success in English football.
"He is a good friend of mine and we spent time together at Juventus and at Inter," Vieira said, per FourFourTwo.
"We are still in touch once in a while and we have massive respect for each other.
"What I really like about him is his character - he is a winner, a guy who can drive the team because of his character and that is a very good signing for Manchester United.
"I spoke to him this morning - he said that he decided to go to United and he believes that is a very good decision for him. Of course, I will wish him good luck and I will be following him.”
