One thing that former Liverpool players should know is that they shouldn’t bad-mouth a club legend.
Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard are icons at Anfield and El Hadji Diouf has done himself no favours in the past by criticising the pair.
But, has he learned his lesson? Certainly not.

In an interview with the BBC, Diouf was asked about Senegalese countryman Sadio Mane’s move to Liverpool. But Diouf couldn’t resist another dig and Carragher and Gerrard when giving his answer.
“Mane has to be worried about nothing. Today you don’t have a bad mentality at Liverpool like Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher. You don’t have a bad mentality any more, people to like only themselves," he said.

“Right now they have a good coach with a good mentality. Sadio stayed at Southampton for two years before he signed for Liverpool. He’s not like me, when I came to Liverpool I came to work in my car to work and I came from outside England. He’s been in England for two years now so for him it will be more easy.”
If you’ve forgotten about Diouf’s previous comments, let us remind you. After he flopped on Merseyside following his £10 million move in 2002, the former striker obviously feels a bit bitter about things.
Diouf on Carragher
Earlier this year, he slammed Carragher in a foul-mouthed rant, telling French magazine So Foot, per the Liverpool Echo: “The difference between Jamie and me is that I am a world-class player and he is a s***.
“The type of s*** that writes a book and mentions me all the time. Me, in my book, he does not warrant one phrase: he’s a f****** loser.”
Carragher was always going to reply and he offered the perfect response when he tweeted: “The other big difference is he’s scored less goals for LFC in the Premier League than me!”
Diouf also let rip on Gerrard.
Gerrard criticised Diouf in his autobiography but the controversial forward hit back.
“And do you think Gerrard means it when he says that El-Hadji Diouf is not a very good player?” he said.
“I carried the national team for many years, 14 million fans on my shoulders. When we won, it was thanks to me, when we lost, it was my fault. What I represented for Senegal, he [Gerrard] never managed 100th of that for England. He has never done anything in the World Cup or the Euros.
“When I arrived at Liverpool, seeing as I just did what I wanted, he thought that I did not respect the club. But he downright killed his team by slipping against Chelsea. If Liverpool has never won the Premier League, it’s no accident. What goes around, comes around.”
Diouf obviously has a big issue with Carragher and Gerrard but he needs to let it go. There’s only going to be one winner amongst Liverpool fans, and it’s not him.
