Dean Ambrose is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, that still seems crazy to think about even now.
For so long it looked painfully obvious that the WWE just never saw him as a main event-level competitor, much like Vince McMahon and co. did with Daniel Bryan a few memorable years ago in the lead up to WrestleMania 32.
In fact, there was backstage unrest in the WWE for a fair few months now, with some people apparently unhappy with Ambrose before the decision was made for him to win the title at Money in the Bank.

According to a report from Daily Wrestling News, there were several people who were less than pleased with the lack of effort Ambrose seemed to be showing, and the decision to hand him the championship came as a shock.
"It’s interesting that Dean Ambrose won the WWE World Heavyweight Title last month as there had been a lot of negative backstage talk about him over the past few months," the article by Eric Arrington stated.
Apparently, Ambrose was heavily criticised backstage for how lacklustre he seemed during the feud with Chris Jericho, which he went over in.
"Going into the title change, there was a feeling that Ambrose had been “phoning it in” and some have commented that he hasn’t looked too good backstage after his matches. There was a lot of criticism over his recent feud with Chris Jericho as well."
Ambrose will certainly be invigorated now with the gold around his waist, but hopefully, he doesn't start phoning it in again.
The former Shield member may well have been upset with how he has been booked since the breakup of the stable but he can have no complaints now.
