It’s been an extremely tough few months for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.
The 27-year-old was suspended by UEFA for 30 days after he failed a drugs test and subsequently missed Liverpool’s Europa League final defeat against Sevilla.
Sakho, due to his ‘doping violation’, also missed this summer’s European Championships after Didier Deschamps opted against adding him to his squad.

However, UEFA released a statement on Friday evening confirming Sakho’s doping case had been dismissed.
"The proceedings against Mr. Sakho related to a violation of the UEFA Anti-Doping Regulations after the player failed a doping test at the above-mentioned match,” the statement read, per ESPN. “Following a hearing with the lawyers of the player and experts of the WADA-accredited laboratories on this case, the CEDB has decided to dismiss the case."
Sakho reacts on Instagram
Reacting to the news, Sakho posted a photo of the French flag alongside young Liverpool fans raising ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ scarfs on Instagram.
“The truth always comes out in the end!” Sakho wrote on the photo sharing app. “I can finally express myself and above all it's important for me to thank all of you for your trust and your support that you have been communicating during those two months and a half!
“You have been there for me #YNWA, I will always be there for you giving all my best on the field!
