A couple of months ago, Wade Barrett made a quiet exit from the WWE after requesting his release early and opting not to sign a new contract which was due to expire in June 2016.
It seems as if he remained true to his word when he said he’d take a break from wrestling, as he hasn’t appeared on any other promotion. However, he has revealed his first project outside of the WWE; he’ll be starring in a new film titled ‘Vengeance’.
Barrett – real name Stu Bennett – announced his exciting news on his Twitter account, where he’ll be playing a character named John Gold and starring opposite Gary Daniels, who has featured as a villain in films like The Expendables and Tekken.

The movie has been described as a fast-paced, action-packed revenge thriller, with Barrett playing the role of an ex-soldier turned mercenary as he learns of the murder of his best friend, and discovers a sinister conspiracy before taking them down, one by one.
Evolutionary Films CEO John Adams shared his excitement on the cast in the press release, saying: “Vengeance is an exciting project for Evolutionary Films to greenlight as our second feature film of 2016."
“We’re very excited about the huge potential of this title and believe that the hard-hitting cast we’re assembling will appeal to mainstream international buyers as satisfying the traditional hardcore action audience.”
This will be an exciting time for the former Intercontinental Champion as he tries to carve a successful career outside of the WWE.
