Inter Milan head coach Roberto Mancini spectacularly quashed transfer speculation during a press conference by shocking the Italian media, after journalists hassled the former Manchester City boss about the future of star striker Mauro Icardi.

The 51-year-old was not to prepared to discuss the future of a player that finished fourth in the Serie A scoring charts last season, netting 16 goals, and was clearly sick of hearing constant speculation surrounding the one-time Argentina international, who has been linked with moves to England and Spain.

Icardi is subject to interest from London clubs Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, along with Spanish side Altetico Madrid and Italian outfits Napoli and AS Roma, also interested.

As reported by The Mirror, Icardi's wife, Wanda Nara, had already fuelled speculation about the 23-year-old's future, as media outlets across Europe continued to link Icardi with a move away from the San Siro.

"There are many offers. Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now." claimed Nara.

However, after being pressed by the media for a response to the claims, Mancini reacted in bizarre fashion, and got the bemused reaction he had clearly hoped for.

"I have not seen the news you mentioned, I have not read anything," said Mancini.

Endeavour

"I do not know why say anything. I’m just a coach and this is not an issue about me. He is doing the training and showing endeavour, for me this is important.

"I do not read newspapers, do not listen to radio, I do not watch TV or private chanels...just porn!"

The comments silenced the press room for a moment before the Italian added: "I'm joking!"

But despite Mancini's best attempts to put an end to the transfer talk surrounding the striker, reports from the Daily Star claim that Tottenham have made contact Inter officials, to discuss the potential for Icardi to move to White Hart Lane.

Contradictory

However, contradictory claims suggest that compatriot Manuel Lanzini has tempted Icardi to ditch Serie A for life with West Ham at their new Olympic Stadium home. Providing that the Hammers meet the striker's £28 million buy-out clause.

Icardi could be seen as the cheaper alternative to Christian Benteke, who the Hammers have actively been pursuing this summer, however, talks have stalled regarding a move, with Liverpool wanting the £32.5 million they paid to sign the striker from Aston Villa, last summer.
