Last night, reports emerged claiming that Liverpool defender Joe Gomez had suffered a setback as he continues rehabilitation on a ruptured cruciate ligament.
The 19-year-old, who has been on the sidelines for nine months with the injury, has now confirmed the disappointing news in a post on his official Instagram account this afternoon.
In the post, which has already amassed over 13,000 likes from his followers in three hours, Gomez revealed that a problem with his Achilles - rather than the knee itself - is the latest issue.

The latest development is a blow for both Gomez personally and Liverpool as a whole as they continue their preparations for the upcoming 2016-17 campaign.

Although he has only made seven appearances for the Anfield club since arriving from Charlton Athletic in 2015, Gomez has been touted as a star of the future and a youngster whom Jurgen Klopp has a lot of faith in.
With the Liverpool Echo reporting the teenager is likely to miss the start of the season, too, it leaves the Merseyside club a little light in terms of defensive options after the departures of Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel.
As a result, the messages from Liverpool fans reacting to Gomez's setback have been a combination of sympathy for the young defender, but also a plea to Klopp and co. to go out and sign reinforcements.
One player's name, in particular, appears to be at the top of their wish list:
One fan had an alternative plan in mind:
Jonathan Tah has been a name linked with a move from the Bundesliga, where he plies his trade for Bayer Leverkusen, to Liverpool in recent times.
The fact that Gomez is looking at another couple of months on the sidelines as he addresses the Achilles tendinopathy, and Mamadou Sakho is already facing a month out with his own Achilles problem, could well mean that the Premier League club step up their interest in the 20-year-old Germany international.
Indeed, as things stand, Liverpool's only two fit senior centre-backs are Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip.
Whether the wishes of Liverpool fans are answered in the coming days remains to be seen.
However, if Tah were to arrive and Gomez is able to make a full recovery by the turn of the year, it would set the Anfield club up with some very exciting defenders in their ranks for the years to come.
