Ronda Rousey is yet to return to the Octagon.

Dana White ready to hand Ronda Rousey a title shot upon return

Published 2 Comments

The 135-pound division changed drastically in less than six minutes when Holly Holm dethroned the once-invincible Ronda Rousey to capture the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship in Australia.

Since that shocking result, the Women’s Bantamweight division has been one of the most entertaining.

The game of hot potato with the championship has seen Holm and Miesha Tate fail to defend the title at the first time of asking, and it seems as if new champion Amanda Nunes could face the toughest task of all.

With title changes coming thick and fast, Dana White provided fight fans with a massive update regarding the first potential defence for Nunes.

Speaking at the UFC 200 post-fight show on FS1, White revealed that whenever Rousey is ready to step back into the Octagon, she’ll take on the champion, whoever that may be.

He said: “Whoever the champion is at the time is who Ronda will fight.

“If Ronda comes back, Ronda will get the shot. We’ll see what happens with Holly Holm in her next fight; she’s fighting on FOX. It’s all good stuff.”

Nobody – not even White – knows when Rousey will be back, but hoped that she could return to compete this year.

He said: “Ronda is going to make that decision. I would like to see her fight this year, but it could be early next year, too.”

If the division wasn’t competitive enough with all of the title changes, Rousey’s return would certainly shake things up once more as she looks to reclaim the title after previously holding it for over 1,000 days.
