Luke Shaw is, this afternoon, making his first appearance for Manchester United in 10 months in their friendly against Wigan Athletic.
Having been out of action for almost a full year after suffering a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven last September, there's no doubt that the England left back has been through injury hell.
His own suffering pails into insignificance compared to that endured by a Manchester United supporting Irish couple who lost their baby daughter less than two years ago.

As reported by Joe.co.uk, Steve de Korte and his fiancee Sarah lost their daughter Ava in 2015. With Steve's brother Will having contacted United to tell them the tragic story, then manager Louis Van Gaal actually wrote a letter of support to the family at the time.
Now, with news having reached the Red Devils that the couple are celebrating the birth of their son, Shaw has now written his own touching letter after discovering the new born baby is a fellow Luke.
If you can't quite make out what it says, the letter reads:
"Dear Sarah and Steve.
"I just wanted to drop you a line to congratulate you both on the birth of Luke Robert.
"The last year or so has obviously been very difficult for you both after the sad passing of Ava.
"I have no doubt that you will ensure Ava's memory will live on and you will always remember the short time you spent together with your wonderful daughter.
"A big welcome to Luke, who I am sure has given you lots of strength and focus at this time.
"I am pleased to see that he is already wearing the colours of his favourite team."
What a great gesture from the young United left back, and one that restores your faith in football.
Shaw truly is one of the good guys in the sport and there is no doubt that Steve, Sarah and little Luke will be cheering him on today as he looks to put his own difficult recent past behind him.
