While Robbie Lawler is preparing for the third defence of his UFC Welterweight Championship against Tyron Woodley at the end of the month, questions continue to be raised regarding a potential match-up with Conor McGregor.
McGregor has a huge target on his back with Eddie Alvarez, Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz all looking to secure a bout with him, but it’s Nate Diaz that gets the first crack at UFC 201.
It’s quite simple, a fight with The Notorious guarantees you a huge payday, but Lawler doesn’t seem to be that fixated on adding more zeros to his bank balance, suggesting he’s not interested in stepping into the Octagon with the winner of the UFC 202 main event.

According to MMAFighting.com, he said: “Nate's not one of the guys I’m looking to fight. He did something amazing in March, and I was cheering him on. He’s a 55er; everyone knows that. That’s where he wants to be.”
The speculation didn’t appear from thin air either, McGregor himself spoke about one day potentially fighting for the Welterweight Championship, and praised the current champion.
MONEY NOT THE MOTIVATION
However, Lawler didn’t bother responding to any call out from any fighter and made it clear that money isn’t the motivation.
He said: “I’m not sure if anybody can shut Conor up. I’m not concentrating too much on that.
“He’s got to get through Nate obviously, you know? Conor is obviously a big payday, but winning fires me up. Trying to get over guys and knock them out, that’s what fires me up.
“Decision victories, whoop dee doo, but finishing guys fires me up.”
