The only door that has seen much use at Old Trafford this season is the one labelled ‘in’.
Jose Mourinho, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have all used it. If the new Manchester United manager gets his way, Paul Pogba will be walking through it in the coming weeks.
And though Louis van Gaal and Ryan Giggs have exited the club in the summer, no significant player has left the club. Victor Valdes and Nick Powell were released but no supporter will miss them.

But, if he’s to fund a £100 million bid for Pogba, Mourinho must sell some players he deems surplus to requirements. And there are some on his list of expendable players.
In his introductory press conference, the former Chelsea boss spoke of his desire for “specialist” players, rather than the multi-functional ones Van Gaal preferred. Fans interpreted his comments as a clear sign that Daley Blind will be one of the first axed by Mourinho.
And given that he sold Juan Mata when the pair were at Stamford Bridge, it’s a surprise to many that the Spaniard remains at the club.
Defender on the way out
But if reports in Spain are to believed, Marcos Rojo could be the first player Mourinho ships.
According to Marca, Mourinho wants rid of the Argentine defender, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his arrival from Sporting in 2014.
The Daily Mail add that Villarreal will look to sign the defender on loan if he fits into their wage structure. Given that Marcelino’s team will play in the Champions League next season, a move to Spain might not be all too bad for the 26-year-old.
The arrival of Bailly, plus the return of Luke Shaw, means Rojo will struggle to start for the Red Devils. Mourinho’s appointment certainly looks to have heralded the beginning of the end for him.
