UEFA have announced the shortlist for the 2015-16 Best Player in Europe Award.

Lionel Messi, the current holder of the individual accolade, is one of the 10 players in contention to win the award.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo will be the favourite to secure it - for what would be the second time in his career - after winning the Champions League and European Championships with Real Madrid and Portugal, respectively.
