Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba has undergone an X-ray on his broken leg after suffering the horrific injury during his side's 2-1 win against fierce rivals Shanghai SIPG.
The former Premier League striker was battling for the ball in the second half when he fell awkwardly on his leg, breaking it in the process.
The 31-year-old could now face up to eight months on the sidelines, with fears that his playing career could be over due to the seriousness of the injury.

The injury occurred in the second-half, with Ba's team 1-0 down at the time, and following the injury, he was rushed to a local hospital, where he awoke four hours after receiving general anaesthesia.
Despite the horrific injury and the fact his career could be in jeopardy, the first thing on Ba's mind when he woke up was the team's performance, and the first question he asked the the medical staff was: “Did we win the game?”.

Fortunately for Ba, his team did go on to win the game thanks to two late goals from Cao Yunding and Fredy Guarin.
Following the match, Shenhua's manager Gregorio Manzano was adamant that Ba would receive the best treatment possible in order to ensure his playing days are not over.
He told Goal.com: “It could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. God is unfair. Ba is too good to have this happened to him.”
It wasn't just the Shenhua manager who was visibly affected by the injury as the club chairman Wu Xiaohui broke down in tears when discussing the severity of the injury to the local media.
In the aftermath of the match, Sun Xiang, the man who was battling with Ba for the ball at the time of the injury, went to visit the striker in the local hospital.

The 31-year-old has been in China since 2015 after completing a switch from Turkish side Besiktas. He has made 29 appearances for his current club, scoring 20 goals in the process.
The Senegalese international has also won two individual awards since arriving at Shanghai Shenhua. The 'Chinese FA Cup Most Valuable Player' and 'Chinese FA Cup Top Scorer'.
Before his time in Turkey and China, Ba was making his name in the Premier League, enduring stints with West Ham United, Newcastle United and lastly, Chelsea.
Ba has received support from all over the footballing world following his serious injury, including his former club Chelsea, who tweeted: "All at Chelsea FC send our best wishes to former striker @dembabafoot. Get well soon Demba."
Newcastle also joined the support of their former striker by tweeting: "Our best wishes go to former #NUFC striker @dembabafoot following his injury over the weekend. Get well soon, Demba!"
