No matter how successful Cristiano Ronaldo is, there are always people reluctant to give him credit.
After the superstar led his country to Euro 2016 glory - albeit from the touchline - he should have been receiving plenty of plaudits for his incredible leadership skills. Lifting the trophy in France saw the superstar win his first international tournament with some claiming that triumph on this stage cemented his place as one of the greatest footballers of all-time.
Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy the success of Ronaldo. That’s because when Ronaldo triumphs, Lionel Messi fans aren’t impressed.

But, instead of just a few Messi supporters making jealous comments about Ronaldo, a Catalan television channel went a step further to tarnish the Real Madrid star. In fact, it was probably a few steps too far as channel TV3 produced a terrible photoshop to remove Ronaldo’s abs and make him look out of shape.
Take a look at the terrible attempt to make Ronaldo look less like the incredible specimen he is.
Their awful photoshop skills were always going to be picked up on and social media was soon questioning the TV channel for their strange act.
Having realised they had been found out, TV3 have responded. The journalist Jordi Ramos on the programme Esport Club explained the photo had been changed "without bad faith" because on the original image "some advertising brands" appeared. The programme then put out a photograph of Ronaldo without a shirt and with the abs untouched. The channel added that they had no intention of making fun of the player or disrespecting him by doing so.
It’s not as though Ronaldo will really care, though. The 31-year-old knows that after winning both the Champions League and Euro 2016 in the same season - despite him having little effect in both finals - puts him in pole position to win his fourth Ballon d’Or in January.
Ronaldo is odds-on to beat Messi and co. to the individual award and has been given the vote of many high-profile professionals in the game. That, rather surprisingly, includes Neymar who thinks Ronaldo is likely to beat teammate Messi to the crown.
Neymar backs Ronaldo
“Conquering trophies counts for a lot,” the forward told Lance, per the Daily Mail.
“He won the Champions League and now the Euros. He’s very close [to the Ballon d’Or]. Cristiano is a great player, I’m not hesitant on this.”
Abs or no abs on thing is for sure, there's no denying Ronaldo has had a fantastic few months.
