The WWE Champion heading into Smackdown was Dean Ambrose, but he was prevented from becoming the top pick when RAW took Rollins instead.

The two former Shield members were always expected to be the top two picks and once RAW was confirmed to have the very first pick, did anyone really think that it wouldn't be Rollins?

Ambrose and Rollins went head to head over the WWE Championship on Monday Night's episode of RAW - a match that would culminate in a fairly controversial ending.

The two would put on a good match but a pinfall when both men's shoulders were down, would see the match end in a no contest.

They went head to head once again on Smackdown with the title on the line and ********** came out victorious.

While there was a lot of intrigue about who would go number one overall, the man who proved to be the fifth pick overall also had a lot of interest.

Former NXT Champion Finn Balor was taken fifth overall and will surely make his debut on RAW this Monday.

Shocking picks

Up there with some of the more shocking picks was the fact that former WWE Champion Roman Reigns had to wait until the second round and the sixth pick overall.

Meanwhile John Cena also fell and had to wait until the seventh pick overall - just one pick ahead of the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar.

By the 20th pick, all Current champions had been taken, Tag Team Champions The New Day went to RAW 10th overall, US Champion Rusev also went to RAW 16th overall and the Intercontinental Champion The Miz landed on Smackdown with the 17th pick.
