Kalisto’s promo on the Smackdown Live draft show may have been his worst botch ever

The WWE brand extension draft, on Tuesday night, was
an exciting time for WWE fans and Superstars alike. But for former Lucha Dragon
member Kalisto it seems the excitement got a little too much. After being
drafted to Smackdown Live, Kalisto was interviewed by Greg Hamilton, and
delivered almost certainly the worst promo he’s ever done.

Kalisto was clearly excited about being drafted, and seemingly
forgot what he was supposed to say, but he stumbled on, and I mean stumbled. Despite
it being an apparently scheduled interview, Kalisto appeared completely
unprepared. That which he could remember was blurted out, too fast and stammering
as he struggled to get through his script.

Highlights, or lowlights, of the promo, which was only
a little over 30 seconds long, included fluffing Baron Corbin’s name, and
Kalisto informing us he is here to stay and ‘make a good Lucha thing’, complete
with botched delivery of the, obviously forgotten, line. This is now hotly
tipped to become a T-Shirt. The promo ended with Kalisto running off camera
shouting Godammit while his mic was still switched on. A bemused Hamilton
quickly handed back to the host Renee Young.

Drafting Kalisto to Smackdown Live raises significant
questions about WWE’s plans for him in the future. The cruiserweight division
is on RAW, as is his former tag team partner Sin Cara, and, looking through the
roster, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of obvious feud potential for
him.

With the Intercontinental title residing in the
Smackdown brand for now, it is possible he could be inserted into that picture,
however it seems unlikely. A botch of this nature, on one of WWE’s most
important nights ever, won’t go unnoticed by management. It remains to be seen
if there are ramifications beyond some extra promo classes.
