It’s been approximately three months since WWE fans have seen Ryback. After a well-publicised contract dispute, apparently over winners and losers being paid differently by WWE, he has been on the side-lines waiting for his contract to expire. According to recent social media posts, that time is fast approaching, and Ryback has plans.
In tweets posted in the last few days Ryback has confirmed that he is approaching medical clearance to restart training following surgery to his nose and ear. He is expecting to start weight training within the week, after his ear is cleared, and wrestling and martial arts training in around a month.
Ryback has given two dates for starting potential bookings. He stated that his contract is up on either August 8 or October 17, depending on ‘certain circumstances’. He did not elaborate as to what those circumstances might be. Following the expiration and his official release, it is expected that fans will be able to catch The Big Guy on the independent circuit.

But Ryback hasn’t been idle in his time off. Recently, he has been promoting a new range of products and merchandise. Amongst the items available will be nutritional supplements, and bibs. He is currently promoting his new book ‘Feed me more’, which he describes as a motivational book. He is expecting it to be released before the end of the year.
It’s good news for Ryback fans, although it’s worth noting he almost certainly won’t be using that name on independent promotions, as WWE tend to own their superstar names for legal and merchandising purposes. With independent promotions flourishing, and ex-WWE superstars generally considered large draws, it is likely fans won’t have to wait too long to see Ryback back in the ring.
