Manchester United agree fee with Juventus to sign Paul Pogba

Published 3 Comments

Manchester United have agreed a fee with Juventus over the signing of France international Paul Pogba.

This has been reported by L'Equipe, who claim that Pogba will become the most expensive player in the history of the game.

Indeed, the report states that the Red Devils will pay as much as €120 million for the player that left them on a free transfer back in 2012.

In fact, it has been suggested that Juventus rejected United's opening offer of €101m for the player.

As well as claiming that an agreement has been reached between United and Juventus, the report indicates that the transfer could be finalised in the coming days.

One of the best

Pogba, 23, has gone from strength-to-strength in Turin and is now widely regarded as one of the leading midfielders in world football.

The midfielder may well have failed to truly prove his credentials during Euro 2016, but it's fair to say that he would completely change the dynamic of the United team.

New Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has already secured the services of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the transfer window, but Pogba really could be the missing piece of his jigsaw in Manchester.

Midfield options

As it stands, of course, the club have the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini battling it out in the middle of the park.

Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin only joined the club last summer but failed to truly establish themselves as key players for the club. Herrera, meanwhile, has had a topsy-turvy time of it in Manchester and will be hoping to finally come to prominence under Mourinho's regime.

Carrick may well be approaching the latter stages of his career, but there's every chance that he will have an important role to play next season. And then there's Fellaini, who has more often than not come in for criticism at the Theatre of Dreams.

With Pogba incoming, Mourinho clearly has a decision to make on the midfielders currently at the club.
