Beckham tips United for Premier League glory.

David Beckham predicts who will win the Premier League next season

Published 21 Comments

You’d think that after Leicester produced the incredible 5000/1 feat of winning the Premier League, it would deter people from making predictions about who would win the title ahead of the upcoming campaign.

However, that hasn’t stopped David Beckham from doing just that.

This season’s title race could well be the most exciting one yet. Leicester will be hoping to do the unthinkable and defend the trophy, Arsenal will be hoping to go one better and win their first title for 13 years, Tottenham will be looking to build on their title challenge from last season, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will no doubt be in the mix while Antonio Conte’s Chelsea can’t be ruled out.

But, for Beckham, it’s none of the above because the Manchester United legend predicts that his former side will be crowned champions in May.

"I am going to have to say United," Beckham told Sky Sports when asked who will win next season's title. "I will always be on that side of the fence."

It’s fair to say United have had a pretty successful transfer window so far having completed deals for Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. However, there could be an even bigger arrival in the coming days with Paul Pogba on the verge of a sensational return to the Theatre of Dreams.

Beckham on Mourinho

But Beckham doesn’t think United will win the league because of the players they have signed. Instead, he’s backing the Red Devils because of one man - Jose Mourinho.

"I fully expect it to work. With Jose leaving Chelsea and now coming back into the Premier League with United, for me it is a great move," he said.

"I had huge respect for Van Gaal, but it did not work out the way people expected it to. But I think at the end of the day, now it is a new start for United.

"We have had a couple over the last three or four years, which is not the Manchester United style, who are used to a manager like Sir Alex Ferguson being in there for so many years. So now with Jose in there, he knows what he wants and how to get it, he knows how to win titles.

"I think that is what Man United definitely need to get back to and they need to get back to being feared again. Because we were always a club - and are still a club - that when teams come to Old Trafford, they know they are going to be up against it and they know they are probably going to lose. So that is what we need to get back to."
