One of the most popular video games in the world is just a few months away from unleashing its latest edition upon the world.
As well as all of the newest updates and developments made within the game itself, one of the biggest talking points often tends to be regarding the cover star.
For the first time, Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) let the fans decide which player would grace the front cover of the global edition for FIFA 17, joining the likes of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho and Kaka who have all previously been awarded the honour.
Supporters around the world were given the opportunity to choose between Anthony Martial, James Rodriguez, Eden Hazard and Marco Reus and the results have been announced.
Over three million votes were cast online to decide Borussia Dortmund's loyal servant Reus will be the main face of the game.
After the results were announced, Nick Channon, Senior Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA said: “It is incredible to see how fans get behind their favorite player – Marco plays for a great club, is really fun to watch, and he is very popular in FIFA Ultimate Team, so it makes a lot of sense that the fans picked him.”
“Reus joins an elite group of international football superstars who have appeared on the cover of FIFA over the years.”
Reus was delighted with the result and said: “I’m honoured to join a very distinguished group of footballers to appear on the cover of FIFA.
“Most of all I am humbled that the fans have chosen me, and I will strive to make them proud with my performance on the pitch.”
He also posted this message on Twitter to thank his fans for voting:
