Despite all of the important draft picks taking place on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday, the exclusion of Paul Heyman during Brock Lesnar’s move to Monday Night Raw is what had fans talking the most.
The likes of Rusev and The Miz were both picked along with their spouses. However, The Beast Incarnate didn’t have his advocate in his corner which led to speculation regarding Heyman’s status in the WWE.
It’s been revealed that Heyman and the WWE are in a contract holdup, with Heyman yet to re-sign with the company after his previous contract had expired in May.

As expected, this led many to believe that he was done with the WWE as he has plenty of other projects he’s involved in.
However, Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet has revealed that Heyman and the WWE are still currently negotiating a new deal, and the negotiations shouldn’t stop Heyman from accompanying Lesnar to the ring at SummerSlam.
The only real stumbling block standing in the way of Heyman and the WWE agreeing terms is how both parties are trying to settle on the extent of Heyman’s outside projects.
A reality show is in the works, while he signed a distribution deal with Yahoo in March for his Heyman Hustle content.
There’s still enough time for both sides to come to an agreement despite the lengthy delays, and it’s expected that they’ll reach a deal before SummerSlam in August so that he can be in Lesnar’s corner for his match against Randy Orton.
It’ll be beneficial if a deal can be agreed before then, as Heyman knows how to sell a match and get the fans excited for it, without his input along with minimal appearances from Lesnar, Orton and video packages may not be enough to make it a main event-worthy encounter.
