Admittedly, signing for a new football club probably isn't quite up there with your wedding day or the birth of your first child, but for some players, it should still represent one of the more positive and exciting milestones in your career.

Someone should really pass that message on to Kolo Toure if it really is the case, though.

Toure was introduced to the press for the first time since confirming his move to Celtic on Monday but didn't look too impressed by his new surroundings when he posed for photos holding the famous green and white hooped shirt.

The 35-year-old might be approaching the twilight of his career but you would think that would have given him even more motivation to cherish every moment he has left in the game.

But no, the first images of Brendan Rodgers' latest signing could not have looked any more depressing if they had tried.

As you can see below, the Ivorian fails to muster up even the slightest smile and it looks like he might be already regretting his decision to cross the border after his Liverpool contract expired at the end of last season.

Accompanied with the caption: 'Back at Paradise', Toure's expression would indicate that is anything but the truth and is strikingly similar to the glum images of Aaron Lennon that when viral after he moved to Everton.

The club have since recognised the error of their ways by deleting the initial tweet but we were able to snap a screenshot of the post before it disappeared forever.

Kolo Toure

The former Arsenal and Man City centre-back has signed a one-year deal at Celtic Park and told the press he was pleased to link up with Rodgers once again.

He said: "By joining Brendan Rodgers again, it's something really special for me.

"Brendan is a top manager. One of the best. He did a great job at Swansea and Liverpool and I'm sure he will do a great job here."

As you would expect, football fans have reacted to Toure's unveiling on Twitter in fairly brutal fashion. Here are some of the best replies:
