After years of travelling around the world and then representing TNA, Styles had finally made his way to the big leagues and to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Since his arrival, Styles has found himself feuding with veterans of the company in the shape of Chris Jericho, some upcoming talent like Roman Reigns, and also the face of the company in John Cena, and he's finally revealed why WWE decided now was the time to sign him up.

In his relatively short time with the company, Styles has already battled for the WWE Championship and he's already earned pinfall victories over Cena, the face that runs the place, and whilst being on a panel for WWE at Comic Con, Styles revealed all about how his arrival came about.

Styles initially joked by saying 'because now they decided to hire me', but he ended up revealing that a big part of him coming to the WWE was because of the serious injury problems that were mounting up.

He said: "Timing is everything. Timing is everything. I had to go, I'll say it, I had to go to TNA, to go to Japan, to get here. That's okay with me. Listen, I learned a lot in Japan, and, honestly, there were a lot of guys hurt at the time that I made my arrival to WWE.

"Like I said, timing is everything. I think maybe they needed a little bit of help. The fact of the matter is, I don't think they had an idea of where I would be [on the depth chart].

"As far as I know, I was a middle card guy at best. But then again, I'm kind of like The New Day here. The cream will rise to the top. I will take advantage of every opportunity and I will make my way to the world heavyweight title."

Over the past year, WWE have suffered serious injury problems, with the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, and more being sidelined for numerous months at a time, and that clearly played a part in Styles turning up at WWE.

Styles was on the losing side at this Sunday's Pay-Per-View WWE Battleground as Cena and Enzo & Cass picked up a victory during the six-man tag match against The Club.
