Ligue 1 outfit Lyon have today revealed that they have rejected a €35 million bid from Arsenal for striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have long been linked with a move for Lacazette, but it's fair to say that the club's swoop for him took fans by surprise.
Initial reports indicated that the north London outfit had made an offer of €48m for the forward, but Lyon revealed that the Premier League club only made a €35m proposal.

"Lyon categorically deny having received an offer of €48m from Arsenal for Alexandre Lacazette like Le Progres reported in this morning's edition," a statement from Lyon read, as per Goal.com.
"The club laments Le Progres' decision not to contact the club before publishing this false information, which causes confusion on the day OL publishes its annual financial figures.

"The reality is that Arsenal have tabled an offer of €35m, which Lyon have not acted upon for one reason. OL will hold on to Alexandre Lacazette because he is irreplaceable and one of the key figures in Bruno Genesio's squad."
Why, then, did Arsenal's €35m offer surprise fans on social media? Well, that's because West Ham United previously made a bid €40m of for the same striker. The Hammers' bid was rejected earlier this summer, but Arsene Wenger and co. still made a lower offer for the front man.
As you can imagine, then, Arsenal have been duly trolled on social media for their 'stupid' offer.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Arsenal hierarchy make another move for Lacazette, but it's not exactly surprising that they appear to be intent on changing the dynamic of their front line.
The club have, of course, already seen England international Jamie Vardy reject them, but there's no reason why they won't be able to land a top-class centre-forward before the close of the transfer window.
After Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott failed to produce the goods on a consistent basis last season, now is the time for the club to add a star name to their attack.
