Liverpool fans slam Alberto Moreno for shocking performance vs Chelsea

Published 10 Comments

Unfortunately for Jamie Carragher, his demands to see Liverpool “sign a f***ing left back” haven’t been met so far this summer.

The Liverpool hero tweeted that after the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla but, more than two months later, Alberto Moreno still remains the team’s first-choice left back.

And if Carragher was unhappy then, he’ll be furious after watching the hapless Spaniard’s performance in Liverpool’s pre-season friendly defeat to Chelsea.

Moreno was booked in the sixth minute for a challenge on Willian. Liverpool fans could have predicted a rough night from there.

For all the progress that Klopp has made in strengthening Liverpool’s attack, signing Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, the left back position remains a clear weakness.

This summer, Jose Enrique was released and Brad Smith was sold, leaving Moreno with the lack of competition he needs to improve.

But after his showing in the US, Klopp surely has no choice but to sign a new left back.

Fans react

Here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to Moreno’s performance.

Brutal stuff.

The 1-0 defeat to Chelsea was Liverpool's first loss of the pre-season as they kicked off their International Champions Cup campaign with defeat to their Premier League rivals.

The challenge doesn't get any easier. Next up is AC Milan on Saturday in California and Liverpool fly to London to take on Barcelona at Wembley on August 6.
