Finn Balor finally made his long-awaited main roster debut on this week's Monday Night Raw and the Irishman made an impact that is sure to live long in the memory.
On his first night on the job, Balor won a fatal-four-way match against U.S champion Rusev, Cesaro and Kevin Owens and earned the right to face the victor of another fatal-four-way for the chance to fight for the newly formed WWE Universal Championship at Summerslam. Convoluted stuff.
The fifth overall draft pick went on to defeat the company's new poster boy, Roman Reigns, in the main event to secure a date with Seth Rollins next month.
The 35-year-old has been headlining NXT for the past two years since arriving from Japan where he was a central figure in one of the most popular factions in recent years, The Bullet Club.
His journey to WWE stardom is not lost on the high-flyer, and following a momentous showing on Raw, Balor posted a series of tweets that explained his emotions after finally reaching the grand stage.
"To have been a part of the team that helped NXT become what it is now is without question my proudest accomplishment. Raw on Monday was the result of 16 years of hard work, preparation & a lot of help from a LOT of people I've been fortunate to learn from.
"But trust me, I am under no illusion that the hard work is done. Monday was 1 night, This Is Just The Beginning... ..And if it takes another 16 years to get where I want to be, at the very top, that is what I am willing to give. I AM ALL IN #Real"
Fans have been pining for Balor's arrival on the main roster ever since he set foot in NXT and it's good to see the company put him to use immediately and attempt to make a new star at the height of the brand split.
Can he really defeat Rollins at Summerslam? Whatever the result, the fans are in for a treat as two of the best in-ring workers in the world will collide.
