Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told Ed Woodward that he wants the club to secure the services of Paul Pogba by the end of next week.
This has been reported by the Manchester Evening News, who claim that Mourinho has told the club that they should swoop for PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi if they fail to land his France compatriot over the course of the next week.
Pogba, 23, has long been linked with a record-breaking £100 million move to Old Trafford, but negotiations have seemingly been going on for quite some time.

The Juventus man left Manchester back in 2012, of course, but it appears that Mourinho is intent on bringing him back to the club sooner rather than later.
But there could yet be a twist. Matuidi, who starred alongside Pogba at this summer's European Championships, is recognised as one of the leading midfielders in Europe and would also represent a remarkable coup for the club.

The PSG man may not be idolised as much as Pogba, but his qualities shouldn't be underestimated at this stage. United are clearly lacking a presence in the middle of the park and Mourinho won't be messed around for too much longer.
Ultimately, though, it will be Ed Woodward's priority to bring Pogba back to the club.
But will it happen before the end of next week? Well, the same report from MEN claims that Mourinho fears that Spanish giants Real Madrid could yet secure the signature of the dynamic midfielder.
The report also states that Pogba is committed to signing for United, but would still prefer to join Zinedine Zidane and co. at the Bernabeu.
With the saga involving Juve, Pogba, and the player's agent, Mino Raiola, seemingly ongoing, it will be interesting to see whether the club manages to get the deal over the line.
If it's not Pogba, then there's every chance that it will be Matuidi.
Mourinho previously explained that he was determined to add four players to his squad. He has already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly.
"We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, priorities," Mourinho explained. "To give a certain balance to the squad, to give a certain push in terms of quality, and the qualities that I need, that I want, as we know especially with the ones with more vision."
