It's fair to say that the majority of Liverpool fans had been hoping to see new signing Loris Karius replace Belgium international Simon Mignolet as the club's number one goalkeeper for the 2016/17 season.
Karius arrived on Merseyside from Bundesliga club Mainz 05 earlier on in this transfer window and has played a prominent role for Jurgen Klopp's side throughout the course of pre-season.
The 23-year-old has impressed during his first few games for the Reds, but there's now a major major problem.

Indeed, as you can see by the tweet below, Sky Sports have claimed that the 'keeper is set to be out of action for up to 10 weeks.
It's a nightmare for Karius, who will now miss at least the opening month of the new Premier League season.
Mignolet to be key
It's expected, then, that Mignolet will take up his place in goal ahead of the club's opening weekend encounter against rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
There is, of course, also the possibility that 39-year-old goalkeeper Alex Manninger could claim a place in the side, but that is surely unlikely at this stage.
An injury to Mignolet, though, really could see the veteran line up against his former club in north London.
In all honesty, then, Liverpool fans will probably be hoping to see Mignolet stay injury free over the coming weeks.
But after only just finding out about the fact that Karius will miss the start of the season, they are already worried.
As you can see by the following tweets, they aren't exactly overjoyed by the prospect of Mignolet lining up for them once again.
While Mignolet would surely represent a better option than Manninger, Liverpool fans are still very worried but have reacted hilariously nonetheless.
