Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are idolised the world over for their superhuman mastery of controlling a football.

Neither member of the Barcelona duo are renowned for their aerial prowess, but both have demonstrated they are just skilful with their heads as their feet as the Spanish giants prepare for the upcoming season.

The club media team has captured some brilliant footage of the squad unwinding on a pre-season training camp in England – and as per usual Messi and Suarez are the stars of the show.

It is no secret the pair share a strong friendship away from the pitch – and what do friends do when there is time to unwind during training?

Play a game of head tennis, of course.

The clip begins as Messi nods the ball towards Suarez while both superstars are sitting on exercise balls – presumably as part of some kind of stretching routine.

With consummate ease, they exchange passes using only their noggins before the Uruguayan accidentally drops the ball short of his colleague on the 22nd attempt.

However, due to the way the 28-second video is cut at the beginning, only Messi and Suarez will know how many headers they completed between each other before the camera started rolling.

Irrespective of the exact number, their incredible ball control is a sight to behold in itself.

Seeing Messi in such good spirits will come as a relief to many football fans after the Argentina legend announced his retirement from international football following his penalty miss during the 2016 Copa America final.

When they are not playing head tennis, Messi, Suarez and co have been gearing up for their pre-season opener against Celtic at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday as part of the International Champions Cup.
