David de Gea hails Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Published 1 Comments

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has only been training with Manchester United for the past few days, but it appears that he has already made a big impression on his new teammates.

Indeed, Spain international David de Gea has hailed the Swede, claiming that he has quickly seen that 'he's a top player'.

In fact, De Gea has also heaped praise in the duo of Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who also joined the ranks in Manchester earlier on in this transfer window.

“It’s really good to have Zlatan already here, training with the team,” De Gea explained to the club's official site. “You can see he’s a top player, he’s massive, very big, with a lot of quality and of course he is a top striker.

“I think he will settle in very quickly. You can look and it seems like he has been playing here many years already and the same with the other guys we’ve signed [Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan]. They are playing really well, their training has been top and I think that we have signed really good players.”

United on the up

After last summer's transfer debacle involving Real Madrid, it appears that De Gea is firmly committed to the Red Devils ahead of the new season.

United may be without Champions League football for the 2016/17 campaign, but the dynamic has already changed following the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho.

The Special One has made three fine signings at Old Trafford and there's now every chance that he will secure the signature of France international Paul Pogba.

Zlatan debut

The addition of Pogba would prove to be a remarkable coup for the Red Devils, but the club will currently be concentrating on their pre-season fixture against Turkish outfit Galatasaray in Sweden this evening.

And it's extremely likely that enigmatic striker Ibrahimovic will make his debut for the club in his homeland.

Mourinho has also hailed the striker ahead of the contest, claiming that he is already proving himself in training.

Mourinho told MUTV: "With Zlatan you may see someone with a big ego, big self-esteem, but it is in a positive way.  "When he is with the group, he is humble and friendly to everyone - integration is good.

"Zlatan is a fantastic player and, immediately in training, we could feel what I call 'functional empathy' - people looking to him, him looking to connect with other players.
