Baba Rahman is set to end a testing season with Chelsea by joining Schalke on loan, having joined the Blues for in excess of £20 million last summer.
As reported by The Sun, the 22-year-old is set to return to the Bundesliga, after leaving Germany for England last season, from Augsburg. And Antonio Conte, who has chosen to field youngster Ola Aina ahead of the Ghanaian, is already lining up a new full-back to replace him.
The Italian is hoping to bring in PSV Eindhoven's Santiago Arias, with Rahman failing to force his way into the former Italy boss' plans, and Aina featuring on more occasions during pre-season.

However, there is some hope that Rahman could still have a future at the Chelsea, with 22-year-old contracted to the club for another four years. Although the potential arrival of Arias could hinder such a possibility.
A loan fee has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, but Chelsea are keen to get the player off their wage bill, although, he could be set to return to the club following the conclusion of his loan spell.
Rahman cost Chelsea an initial fee of £14 million, which could rise to £22 million, making just 15 Premier League appearances. And the Ghana international is set to undergo a medical this weekend, before completing a move to Schalke - in hope of finding form, once again.
Brazilian winger Kenedy had been selected ahead of Rahman on several occasions last campaign, with neither former bosses Jose Mourinho or Guus Hiddink able to get the best out of him.
Meanwhile, Arias looks to be heading in the other direction, as Conte looks to use the Colombian's versatility to use him as a left-back, rather than his natural position, at right-back.
The 24-year-old featured 32 times for PSV last season, as they secured both the league and cup, and Chelsea are understood to have had contact with the club, regarding a transfer.
Chelsea were exposed by Real Madrid in their 3-2 friendly defeat this weekend, while Kwadwo Asamoah of Juventus has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, featuring prominently as a wing-back, and could help to sure up Conte's defence.
However, Barcelona are in the hunt for Chelsea left-back Cesar Azpilicueta, although the Blues are refusing to let go of the Spaniard, in an area of the pitch they are currently low on numbers.
