Poor old Mario Balotelli.
The Italian was regarded as one of the best young strikers in world football once upon a time but now, it seems he’s very much an unwanted man.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want him at Liverpool and it appears there aren't too many clubs out there that want to sign him.
Last week, he seemed set to join Turkish side Besiktas after their president, Fikret Orman, told Turkish magazine Fanatik, per Goal.com: “Mario Balotelli is the type of footballer that our fans can associate themselves with.
"I'm pretty sure he would attract great attention.
"To be fair, if he wasn't deemed as a trouble-maker, he wouldn't be rumoured to be joining us. But we can show some effort and create solutions for Balotelli's infamous troubles. I think he can change with the attention and care he'll receive in Turkey.
"In short, we want Mario Balotelli and he wants us too."
After those comments, it looked as though it was just a matter of time before the Liverpool forward moved to Turkey.
However, it seems as though Besiktas didn’t actually want Balotelli at all. The president may have done, but their manager Senol Gunes certainly didn’t.
Besiktas' manager's comments
“Balotelli is not part of my plans,” he said.
“I don’t have a favourable opinion of him.
“I have never heard anything positive about him," he said, per Eurosport.
Instead of signing Balotelli, Besiktas have agreed a deal to sign veteran striker Samuel Eto’o.
When a team decides to sign a 35-year-old instead of you, you’ve got to realise that your career is going in the wrong direction.
Surely there must be a club out there somewhere willing to take a chance on Balotelli?
