Mauro Ranallo has been a breath of fresh air in the WWE; the talented announcer has drawn huge praise from the WWE Universe, and it’s not surprising to see him utilising his talents in multiple sports.
While being the play-by-play commentator on SmackDown Live, he’s still very active in boxing and MMA, and the voice of SmackDown also plays a huge role in bringing the seriousness to the exciting Cruiserweight Classic on the WWE Network.
Ranallo was recently taking part in an ‘ask me anything’ on the r/Boxing subreddit community on Reddit, where he was promoting the WBA World Featherweight Championship clash between Leo Santa Cruz and Belfast’s Carl Frampton - a bout the Northern Irishman won.

As expected, questions regarding life in the WWE did pop up, with one asking what it’s like to work for Vince McMahon.
Ranallo wrote: “Vince McMahon is an intimidating individual because of the amount of respect he commands because of what he’s done for entertainment, turning the business into a billion-dollar success story.

“He rarely sleeps, he’s a workaholic, he’s passionate, he loves what he does.
“Every week I’m inspired by what he puts into his business. From the moment I arrive at the arena, it’s go time. It brings out the best in you because it comes from the top.”
GIFT OF THE GAB
MMA stars are also entertainers in their own right, some more so than others, so it’s obvious why the WWE look to bring in their stardom and fan-base to their organisation.
We saw this with Ronda Rousey’s appearance at WrestleMania 31, while there were rumours that the WWE were looking to have Paige VanZant at SummerSlam.
When asked about which MMA stars could have an easy transition into the WWE, Ranallo’s answers didn’t come as a surprise.
He wrote: “I would say Chael Sonnen would be a natural for professional wrestling.
“In terms of current guys, Conor McGregor has the gift of the gab to sell himself. There have been a lot of guys, Don Frye, Kevin Randleman. But I’d say Chael Sonnen would have been the best for his ability to do promo. And Tom Lawlor, he’s a current UFC guy, with his weigh-in shtick.”
His comments on McMahon aren't as surprising as those claims have been made by plenty of individuals that have worked for him over the years.
But the WWE have a star on their hands behind their announcer’s desk in Ranallo as his talents could really help transform SmackDown Live into the superior brand.
