It had been speculated that John Cena was taking yet more time off from the WWE in the coming months with his show American Grit being renewed for a second season, but the 15-time world champion's in-ring schedule has also made for interesting reading.
The leader of the Cenation may miss the first WWE Smackdown Live branded PPV as he is currently advertised for WWE’s upcoming event in Shanghai, China the day before, which is also a WWE RAW live event, strangely.
Cena was drafted to SmackDown Live on Tuesday nights in the WWE draft, but as the face that runs the place, Cena is a necessary big name when the company tries to showcase itself in big markets like Asia.

Still, whilst it appears logistically difficult for Cena to perform two shows on two separate continents merely 24 hours apart - without considering the time difference and the near 15 hour flight time - a tweet from the WWE suggests Cena will indeed be in action.
In the latest advertisement for Backlash, it appears WWE might have responded to the report of Cena potentially missing the event because the new ad, which you can view below, emphasizes the “whole” roster will be at the brand only PPV.
One would assume after missing out on a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight title at Summerslam that the 39-year-old would continue his feud with AJ Styles, who has also been drafted to the Blue Brand.
There is no indication as of yet who Cena will face in Shanghai or indeed in Brooklyn, but we can expect developments on at least the latter this week on SmackDown Live.
