Kevin Durant and his new Golden State Warriors teammates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are enjoying life on the road with Team USA. Barring an unfortunate Snapchat mishap, the tour has gone off without a hitch as they head to Brazil following five blowout wins.
Despite representing their nation, the questions are still coming thick and fast regarding the situation in the Bay and Durant's switch from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the 2015 champions.
Much has been made about Thompson's standing with the team. There have been suggestions that his time on the ball could be limited with the arrival of another elite player, something all members of the organisation have refuted.
The shooting guard previously insisted he was delighted to have a player of KD's stature on board - who wouldn't be? And speaking to The Vertical, he explained exactly how he found out about the blockbuster news.
“I was sleeping, and my brother came to my room and woke me up to tell me that KD committed. I didn’t believe it at first when he told me, so I had to check my phone and verify it.
"I was like, ‘Seriously? KD really chose us?’ It was an incredible moment for our organisation, and I was psyched. We had the final form of our team.
“And then I went back to sleep.”
Typical Thompson, nothing ever seems to phase him. His attitude will not change next season, in fact, he should have more confidence in reaching the pinnacle of the NBA mountain once again, and his own ability to get them there.
