The WWE made the big decision this year to bring back the brand extension with the draft making a return, splitting up a talented roster while calling up some big names from NXT.
The likes of Finn Balor and Nia Jax have joined Monday Night Raw, while Alexa Bliss and American Alpha are now on SmackDown Live. The WWE could easily handpick some more NXT stars like Bobby Roode, Hideo Itami and Samoa Joe to jump to the main roster and help a so-called ‘depleted’ SmackDown roster.
However, rather than damage NXT, the decision was made to bring back wrestlers that have worked for the company before, this is why we’ve seen Jinder Mahal and Rhyno make their returns. Shelton Benjamin is also set for a return while Curt Hawkins is also expected to appear on SmackDown.

There are some huge names available out there the WWE could sign, and one of those Vince McMahon is personally pursuing is former ECW Champion, John Morrison.
DailyWrestlingNews.com are reporting that McMahon has a keen interest in having Morrison – currently known as Johnny Mundo – return to the company. They’re also claiming that WWE officials expect him to return before the end of the year.

This could be an interesting story to keep your eye on, especially as Mundo is still under contract with Lucha Underground. Despite this, Vince has asked on multiple occasions on what his status is, and when the earliest they could sign him be.
SHOULD HE RETURN?
It remains doubtful that Lucha Underground will want to let go of one of their best talents, especially since the WWE are also interested in Prince Puma – or Ricochet – and their scheduling could change because of their interest.
They were originally slated to wait until next year to start filming their fourth season. However, they’re looking to tape it in 2016 instead.
They’ll obviously be aware of this situation and the WWE’s desire to lure him back to the company, so maybe speeding things up suggests they believe they stand a good chance of retaining their top star.
Clearly, the WWE will want to bring in former stars than can still work in their style, and since leaving the company, Mundo has improved drastically and has turned into a household name in the wrestling industry.
SmackDown Live also feels like the place for him, with some excellent feuds in line that could result in a highly successful return.
